Rockin' through the Rockies

Colorado is cool. On recommendations from Sam B. and Jeff K., we stayed in Frisco for a few days. Climbed Mt. Royal (see picture on left) which was a short but steep hike to 10,500 ft. Our home was a B&B on Main Street called the Frisco Lodge. Also visited Copper Mtn where Jeff and Derrick work. Dan thinks we should return to ski Copper.

This sign, TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT ON SIGHT, welcomed us to one of the most beautiful hikes I've taken - McCullough Gulch. After a 1.5 mile hike you arrive at 12,000 ft which is above treeline to an alpine lake (see next photo). We even saw a moose sauntering across the lake, but alas, that picture got away.

Lumpy Ridge, Rocky Mountain National Park

These next 4 pics were taken near Estes Park. It is a great place to go bouldering which is like rock climbing except you scramble up big rocks without ropes.

Estes Cone (11,000 ft, left side) and Long's Peak (14,000+, highest peak in Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park). Marta and I climbed Estes Peak back in 1989.

We met up with Marta (Peace Corps/Guatemala '84) in Boulder. This is at her brother's house.
