Pranne, P Daow, Me, El, Panpim, and Nune
Tom found the Super Bowl on our TV at 9 am on Monday. There were no commercials, though. Every time there was a timeout all we could see is what you see in this picture. Tom thought we should open some wine and eat peanuts (at 10 am) while we enjoy the game but I, always the sensible one, said no. My niece Erin heard this story and said, "But Aunt Barb, it is 5 o'clock somewhere!"
This is the Vertigo Bar and Restaurant on the 61st floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel. I went here for dinner back in 2006 with an Illinois State delegation and always wanted to take Tom here.
We stayed for dinner and paid dearly for the view.
While eating lunch at this place there was a sudden loud explosion just across the street accompanied by a cloud of blue smoke. Tom went to check it out and concluded that a transformer must have blown in one of those tangles of electrical wires. But no one really seemed concerned, and no power trucks came to make repairs...it's just how it was.
